Best known for its stunning ocean and volcano vistas and topped off by the iconic 1901 Russian Orthodox church overlooking the harbor from the bluff above, Ninilchik is a great choice for those who love to have beautiful vistas almost every day. Though services like a large shopping center require a drive of 45 minutes or so north or south, there are plenty of small shops were you could pick up milk or sugar to get you through until shopping day. Situated between the Ninilchik and Deep Creek rivers, this is a fisherman’s paradise, with tractors available on the beach to launch your boat into the “salt” should you desire. In the winter, this is the gateway to the famous Caribou Hills Recreational Area, should you want to ride your snowmachine to your out of the way cabin in the woods. Ninilchick has a K-12 school, a full service gas station, and is famously known for the “Biggest Little Fair in Alaska.”
